Ben Bulben & The Dartry Mountain Range
Bundoran is nestled at the foot of the spectacular Dartry mountain range, which straddles countries Sligo and Leitrim. Though small in stature the Dartry Mountains are perhaps one of Ireland's most dramatic to the eye. The limestone range is characterised by sheer grassy slopes leading up to vertical cliffs, topped of by a blanket bog plateau. The spectacular cliffs and gullies that are a prominent feature of this range mean that from dawn to dusk there you can behold amazing shifts in light, colour and shadow playing out on the elevations.

There is a number of easy to difficult walks through this mountain range; all of which are within a 15 minute drive of TurfnSurf Lodge.

The most famous peak in the range is Ben Bulben which because of its position at the "corner" of the range gives unbroken views through nearly 300 degrees of the surrounding countryside. The walk to its summit is short but steep however, it is more than worth it when you stand on the large flat mountain top and take in the view of the Atlantic and rolling countryside of four counties; Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and Fermanagh.

Always remember that in most cases you are walking over somebody's land. So don't forget to always ask permission from the landowner before beginning.
