Early Christian Ruins on Inishmurray Island

A visit to Inishmurray Island is like a step back in time to a uniquely preserved island life dating back as far at the early Christian. Despite being only an hour's paddle from the Sligo coast this island offers a wealth of history, natural beauty and wildlife.

It is a remote and mystical wildlife sanctuary with an ancient Christian settlement along with more recent settlements which have now been abandoned.

What's involved?

Arrive at TurfnSurf by 9pm for briefing & safety talk.
Stay in TurfnSurf the night before the paddle.
Early morning breakfast at Lodge followed by each group member's equipment check.
Transport to launch point.
Change into gear & buoyancy aids at launch point (Streedagh Beach in Sligo).
Launch and paddle for about 1 hour, landing on the coast of Inishmurray Island.
We will then travel to our chosen camp site, change into our clothes and set up tents etc.
Once set up for the evening we will then explore the island searching out the natural and historical sights of the area.
As evening approaches we will go back to our camp and prepare the evening meal (which is provided).
After food, chat and refreshments its sleep for your weary limbs.
The next morning we will pack up camp and head for home

Trip costs €165 per person.

This includes camping equipment, food, instruction/supervision and emergency boat.

You will need a reasonable level of fitness to ensure that you enjoy this trip.
